Subject:Anyone familiar with this housing assignment?
Security:Public

I decided to resurrect my LJ so I can ask a question on here. Is anyone familiar with the Porter/Kresge Building J apartments? I just got my assignment and I'll be living in J403. Looks like I'll only be sharing a bathroom/kitchen with two other people! Anyone know if this is a good apartment?

Hey there.
Just got my housing packet and I'm in R02-222 in a small triple.
What's 222 like?

Well I just got the packet in the mail saying I'll be in Kresge and I figured this community could use a bit of a bump.

Any suggestions for housing?

Has anyone here taken the Music Placement exam, and if so, what kind of music history questions do they ask? Would I need to have taken Music 11 to do well on just the music history portion of the test, not any other portion of the test, just that portion, because I've taken 13 & 14.

So the K building isn't in the middle of nothing, right?
I mean, it's still a happening spot?

Hello Kresgians,
Just wondering, is the first day of class for Power and Rep at Town Hall important? I'm not talking about regular class, but the one that's at night with all the kresge freshman in the town hall, where I hear we watch movies and get lectures, etc. Thanks!

I posted this in ucsc_incoming too, but it's making me crazy, so..

I am wondering how easy it is to transfer to a different apartment prior to move-in day.

The apartment I want to be in has an empty bed in a double. I'm already supposed to be in a double anyway, so no problems there. I already sent them an email, but should I just call?

What are my odds of making this switch happen?

this may seem like a stupid question... but when we move in, should we bring our own toilet paper? and should we bring like bathroom/kitchen cleaning stuff? im a total neat freak when it comes to a bathroom and kitchen, so this info is vital for me!
thank you in advance. and i appologize for the dumb freshman questions. =)

So I got my housing today and i'm in kresge 811, which my brother told me is in what they call the zoo because before they tinted the glass to the sliding glass doors, you could look right in.

Anyway, my question is, how much does it suck to have a downstairs apartment? My friend Sean had an upstairs one when he was a freshman and the people below complained all the time about the noise. Is it really that loud being below, or were they just being assholes?

I was hoping I'd have one on the 2nd floor. :-/ oh well.

okay kresge kids,

this is for anyone who has lived in the flats. i was wondering if anyone knew the dimensions of the closest in the doubles. i was looking into getting some fun shower curtains (oh god, i sound like martha stewart) to cover the closet but i'm not sure what size they are. i think they're pretty standard, but if it helps, i'll be in apt. 121. thanks in advance!

I went back about 40 entries, but I figured I'd just ask this question anyway..

Do the doubles in the apartments have two desks in them?

Hey everyone! I just found out that I got assigned to an "Apt Small Triple" and I was wondering if anyone could tell me about them. I'm kind of nervous that it says "small". I wasn't expecting to have a huge room but I want to have my own space and not feel suffocated or anything. Thanks for your help.

Oh btw, does this mean i'll probably be in an apt. with 5 people altogether (a triple and a double) or will it be more?

A single room in 4 bed, 2 bath house, under $600/mo. On Lighthouse (off Bay, one block from West Cliff) ONE BLOCK FROM BEACH, HUGE BACKYARD AND DECK. You'd be living with 4 cool, clean 3rds years from UCSC. (Creative Writing/Film/Feminist Studies majors) We need you mid June or July 1 - mid Sept.
